Wells to lead Buckner Retirement Services’ hospitality initiatives as Director of Resident Experience
Buckner Retirement Services named Wes Wells as Director of Resident Experience, effective March 7.
Wells’ tenure with Buckner began in 1995 when he joined Baptist Retirement Community in San Angelo as administrator and later transitioned to vice president of healthcare services in 2000. From 2011 to 2018, he served as executive director of Buckner Westminster Place in Longview.
Wells steps into the role of director of resident experience as part of Buckner Retirement’s ongoing hospitality initiative “Signature Buckner.” The initiative works to provide senior adults an exceptional experience at each level of living and care offered at Buckner senior living communities through hands-on staff development, increased uniformity and company-wide commitment to inspiring happiness in senior adults.
“Wes has proved himself to be a well-respected leader,” said Charlie Wilson, senior vice president of Buckner Retirement. “He created a uniquely positive environment at Buckner Westminster Place and guided them toward many creative programs for residents. Wes brings exuberance and creativity to his new position in addition to the excellent skills essential for helping us continue building this great organization.”
As director of resident experience, Wells will work with each of the five existing Buckner senior living communities, as well as Ventana by Buckner when the community opens in 2019, to direct the implementation of the Buckner Retirement brand, establish hospitality standards and develop training curriculum for team member engagement.
Wells thanked leadership from Buckner International and Buckner Retirement Services for the opportunity to continue serving senior adults and provide a joyful, engaging lifestyle for each Buckner resident.
“Over the past 24 years, Buckner has become like family to me,” Wells said. “Working alongside this incredible team to grow the fun, life-enriching culture already present at each Buckner senior living community is an honor and a privilege.”
