Are you assured of God's love for you?
Last Christmas, my son and 3-year-old grandson, Walker, were putting out their Christmas lights and one of the bulbs was broken. My son warned his helper not to touch the open socket as it would hurt him. Sure enough, in a few minutes, POP! He looked up and saw Walker shaking his hand and crying out, “I sorry, daddy! I sorry!”
Aren’t we like this when it comes to our heavenly father? We have his word in Scripture, ready to lead and guide us, yet we still decide to “touch the open socket” and get a shock.
Even though Walker disobeyed his father, he paid the price of pain and surprise, but he also felt his father’s love as he was comforted by him.
As parents, we try to teach our children the dangers of our actions and the consequences, but we still disobey. We, as Christians, do the same thing. We know God’s law and truths, yet we still disappoint him in our sin.
However, the happy news is he is our Abba Father, always so happy to hear our prayers and forgive us for our sins. He takes us in with open arms and continues to love us unconditionally.
With Christ in your heart, you can forever be assured of his love for you.
“Neither height or depth nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:39
