50 years of ministry in Rio Grande Valley celebrated by Congressman Cuellar
Accomplishing 50 years of ministry is no easy feat. In December, the Buckner ministries in the Rio Grande Valley were honored by Congressman Henry Cuellar with a Congressional Certificate of Recognition.
Over the past 50 years, vulnerable children and families have found resources in the Rio Grande Valley for foster care and adoption, family strengthening programs through the Buckner Family Hope Center, support for at-risk youth and parents through the Family and Youth Services (FAYS) program, as well as volunteer and mission opportunities.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition from Congressman Henry Cuellar,” shared Diego Silva, Buckner International resource development coordinator. “Buckner is proud to be a part of the ongoing work of making the Rio Grande Valley a fantastic community for anyone calling it home.”
On Dec. 17, Nicolas Cruz, Cuellar’s outreach coordinator, visited the Family Hope Center in Peñitas to present the certificate to staff and tour the facilities. Both the Cuellar team and Buckner staff are excited for the opportunity to collaborate in the future.
“Collaborating with local school districts, other nonprofits, churches and government agencies has helped us impact thousands of lives by shining hope in the Rio Grande Valley,” Silva continued. “We would like to thank Congressman Cuellar and his staff for their ongoing support in this work.”
