We ended our summer just 3 months ago, and I want to take the time to thank everyone whom had participated in our first ever Adopt-A-Staff program. I thank everyone who took the time to support our amazing team of 16 Summer Staff. That support came by means of prayers, encouraging notes, and care packages. It is very heartwarming thinking of your thoughtfulness in taking the time to participate in our Adopt-our-staff program. I cannot thank you enough for the support you showed the team, it meant so much to them and to me.
Our summer staff worked tirelessly for 14 weeks out of the summer. All of them are college students, who have been called by God to give up their summer for His purpose. They could go work somewhere else and make more money, or have more time in their schedule for other summer activities… but that does not concern them. Instead, they wanted to make a difference. This means sacrificing time, money, and sleep to be faithful to God’s calling. Unfortunately, not all were able to fulfill their summer commitment. Life happens, as it always does, and they were faced with tough decisions. The job is not always easy. We asked them to come to a place that is unfamiliar, far from home, and live with others they have just met. They experienced difficulties, such as conflicts with others, spiritual growth, and fatigue. In saying all of this, I wanted to give you an idea of how working a camp is a significant commitment.
They were Relentless. Relentless in serving. Relentless in putting others before their own. They have been called by God to share His love through serving others. Camp Buckner could not operate without our summer staff; it would not be a place where hundreds of campers would come for an opportunity for making eternal decisions.
Your participation in sending encouraging letters/care packages…or even lifting them in prayers did not go unappreciated. It contributed in lifting them up when they needed it the most! It had proven to be an effective tool to encourage our team to continue their ministry and a reminder as to why they had made a commitment. We will for sure continue the program!
Again, Thank you for sharing in the work of proclaiming Christ by supporting our staff.
