Celebrate Orphan Sunday Nov. 4 with a shoe drive!
Orphan Sunday is coming soon and we’d love for you and your church to celebrate with us by hosting a shoe drive through Shoes for Orphan Souls®, the largest humanitanitarian aid project of Buckner International.
For those who have never celebrated it before, Orphan Sunday is one day each year dedicated to raising awareness in the Church about the plight of orphan children. There’s no right or wrong way to recognize and celebrate this day – it’s up to you and your local church.
We’re encouraging churches to host a shoe drive because it’s a great way to make the plight of orphans come alive to you and your congregation.
If you need any more convincing, consider these four reasons why hosting a shoe drive is a great way for your church to get involved in orphan care:
- You will be helping meet a very real need that orphans and children in poverty struggle with each day.
- The growing pile of shoes will serve as a reminder throughout your drive to pray for orphan children around the world who are in need of the love and hope of Christ.
- It’s a great way for children to get involved – they can help you shop for shoes and write notes to put inside for the children who will receive each pair.
- For many children who receive shoes through Shoes for Orphan Souls®, it's the first new pair of shoes they've ever owned. This communicates the message that these children are loved and valued. By collecting shoes to give to the children, you are a part of that message!
