Council for Life and Young Leaders for Life award $40,000 to Buckner Children and Family Services
DALLAS – Council for Life and Young Leaders for Life awarded Buckner Children and Family Services $40,000 raised from the Run for Life 5k at the Southern Methodist University Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
Buckner will use the funds to provide children with forever families through Buckner foster and adoption programs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
"We support the mission of Buckner in building strong families through the gift of adoption," said Ann Carruth, Council for Life Founder Emeritus. "We can all do our part to help children and their adoptive families with the support they need to thrive. We stand together with Buckner for the Run and we stand together for life."
Council for Life executives and board members presented the check May 15 to David Slover, president of Buckner Foundation. This is the second year that Buckner has been named a beneficiary of Council for Life’s Run for Life 5K.
“We are blessed to have the support and backing of Council for Life,” Slover said. “It is because of generous gifts like theirs that we are able to continue our service in helping local children find hope and security in the homes of forever families.”
The fifth annual Run for Life 5K took place on April 19. In addition to the 5K run, individuals participated in a family friendly Kid’s Race and Easter egg hunt.
