Empowered and inspired
Last week, the Buckner Family Hope Center partnered with Comerica to host a virtual women’s conference. Just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day, the event empowered the women attending to continue chasing both their professional and personal goals.
Virtual sessions offered in English and Spanish
The H.E.R (Her Existence is Relevant) Conference is an annual conference hosted at the Family Hope Center in West Dallas. This year, it was offered virtually and with sessions available in English and Spanish.
“Our goal is for women to leave the Zoom conference feeling empowered, loved and supported by their community,” shared Tanya Martinez, community coordinator at the Family Hope Center.
The hour-long conference included praise and worship, a word from the speaker and a time of encouraging conversation among the participants.
The power of community
For the English session, Rhonda Davenport, national director of retail and small business banking for Comerica Bank, spoke on the power of love and support when it comes to moving forward. In the Spanish session, Maria Cerda, VP bank center manager for Comerica Bank, shared tips, resources and stories of faith to remind the women of their relevance.
Celebration made complete with goodie boxes for registered attendees
Nearly 40 women attended and the first to register received a Journal Freely box, made by Margaret Humphrey, through a drive-thru distribution. The box included a journal, coffee mug, pen and other items to encourage time in the Bible.
“We had the opportunity to hear the attendees’ stories and share moments of happiness with them,” Tanya said. “You could feel the gratitude from everyone involved.”
