Faith Focus: Find your strength, forget your fear
The Prophet Daniel found himself in a desperate situation (Daniel 2): Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had experienced a recurring dream that troubled him. He demanded that his wise men – magicians, astrologers and counselors – tell him not only the dream, but its meaning as well.
His wise men, not knowing the mystery presented by the king, stalled for time. Out of patience and furious, the king ordered their deaths. Even though not present, Daniel was counted among the wise men of the land and condemned along with the rest.
Fear has a way of paralyzing us. It makes us unsure of our decisions and direction and robs us of strength. Instead of being paralyzed by fear, Daniel asked for time to pray to God.
The Lord responded to his prayer with the answer to the king’s mysterious dream. Daniel’s faith in God overcame any fear he may have felt and forged a place of leadership and influence for him in Nebuchadnezzar’s empire.
This week, pray for God’s strength and wisdom in your life to help you overcome any fears you may be experiencing.
