Faith Focus: Sometimes life is tough
Life isn’t always easy. In fact, long stretches of life can seem like a never-ending series of challenges.
Actress Katharine Hepburn famously put it this way: “Life is hard. After all, it kills you.”
Many of the people who come to Buckner know this feeling all too well. They’ve suffered job loss, abuse, neglect and more. Just as they seem to get life headed their way, they’re knocked down again in Job-like fashion.
Maybe you know how that feels. Maybe even today.
I’m not going to pretend that place of struggle is easy. It isn’t. To be transparent, when I’m in the heart of struggle, I’m often not even sure I understand it. But I’ve found time and again that God is there in those moments.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Today, let us pray for those who are struggling. Pray for children looking for safe, loving homes. Pray for economically-challenged families. Pray for the hopeless.
May all of us know God is with us. No matter where we are, how we feel or even how hard life is.
