Faith Focus: The greatest friend
This week, my dearest childhood friend came to visit me. We became friends in high school and she is one of the few friends I still keep in contact with from that time. Our friendship is sweet and meaningful because she has stuck by my side through many hard times. She’s comforted me, supported me and loved me. She is the one I go to when I just need someone to understand because she just “gets me.”
Do you have a friend like that? I hope you do. But regardless of whether you have a loyal friend on this earth, you most definitely have a loyal friend in Jesus. I guarantee you, no one loves you more than he.
Jesus is the ultimate friend and fulfills all the characteristics of a faithful friend. He’s always by your side. He comforts you, supports you and loves you. He definitely gets you.
What a comfort to know that no matter the circumstance you may be going through, Jesus is right there by your side. No matter the pain you are feeling, he understands. And he is there celebrating with you in the joyous occasions. No matter how good a friend you have on earth, Jesus is a better one.
This week, take time to develop your friendship with Jesus and display the same characteristics he displays to you to the friends in your life.
“No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” – John 15:15
