Faith Focus: The perfect father
Last night millions of people tuned in for the television event of the year. We just had to wait until the Super Bowl was over.
We finally found out what happened to Jack, the patriarch of the Pearsons on the hit show "This Is Us."
The tale of the Pearsons has captivated the country, particularly the story of how Jack died. For many, Jack is the father we wish we had: Selfless, sacrificing and supportive. His willingness to put the needs of his family above his own desires inspires the rest of us.
Rebecca speaks for all of us when she tells Jack: "You're something else."
Research tells us the presence of a loving, involved father changes everything. It encourages healthy relationships, higher self esteems and increased positive outcomes for children.
Fortunately, we have a heavenly father that's the best of Jack and more. God loved us before we were born. He sent his son to die for our wrongdoings. His grace is overwhelming.
When Christ was born, it drew attention near and far. His death changed the course of human history. His compassion and example are inspirational to all of us and unmatchable for any of us.
Our heavenly father wants us to do more than sit in awe of who he is. He wants a relationship with each of us. That includes you. How is your relationship with God? Have you talked to him lately?
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16
