Faith Focus: What do you expect?
When single parents come to Buckner Family Pathways, they come from diverse backgrounds. Some of them have suffered abuse. Others have been through unspeakable tragedy. Others yet have struggled in poverty their entire lives.
They come to Family Pathways with dreams of a better future for themselves and their children. They seek higher education and better jobs. They want the best life possible for their children.
The first step into a Buckner Family Pathways apartment is the first step in making those goals reality. Through Buckner Family Pathways, leaders tell new residents, they can expect to change radically.
By laying the foundation of expectation, Family Pathways staff members set the stage of transformation. Residents anticipate change. They know it’s coming and are excited about it.
What are you eagerly anticipating? What do you have a spirit of expectation for?
A few months ago, a friend of mine shared that his personal Bible study time recently had completely changed as a result of one simple tweak. He still read Scripture like he had for years. He still looked at other resources and books like he always had. He even studied the Bible at the same time as he had for some time.
But now he expected to encounter the living God each time he opened his Bible.
The change in mindset changed everything. Scripture came alive for him. He sought God’s wisdom as he read and allowed God to speak to him. Moreover, he listened and implemented what he sensed God telling him.
God is working in your life today. He speaks to you through Scripture and prayer. Are you expecting him to impact your life this week?
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. –Philippians 1:20
