Faith Focus: Where do you see Jesus?
Weekly, the Buckner staff gathers for a devotional time that includes prayer for each other and the families that we serve. Last Monday, we gathered around a Christmas tree in our lobby and focused on the birth of Christ. As told by Christ himself.
More precisely, the story was told by the son of a coworker. He has played Jesus theatrically and looks remarkably like the artwork we often see depicting Christ (see photo above). His first-person presentation of Christ's birth was unique and powerful.
The devotion stuck with me. It seems everywhere I turned last week, I saw this young man's face. In essence, I saw Jesus throughout the week.
Though the faces look different, the parents and volunteers who serve vulnerable children and families through Buckner are the presence of Christ to those they are ministering to. Because people put others before themselves, others are able to see glimpses of the hope of Christ.
As Christians, that's exactly what we're supposed to be -- Christ's ambassadors, his representatives. Will others see Christ in you this week?
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. -Colossians 1:27
Deeper reflection:
- Who in your life reminds you of Christ?
- Where do you see Christ in action around you?
Next steps:
- Live this week as an ambassador of Christ.
