Faith Focus: Your prayers have made a difference
As Hurricane Harvey approached Texas, Buckner leaders asked you to pray for the children and families we serve. Today, there is no doubt your prayer made a difference.
Buckner leaders sensed God’s calm and clarity on them as they’ve made difficult decisions. Children and families felt a hedge of protection around them. All Buckner staff, children and families are safe today. Residents at Buckner Calder Woods in Beaumont and Buckner Parkway Place are safe and well. We praise God for that.
Still, they need your prayers. Some in the Buckner family have been affected by the storm. Homes have been lost as have cars. A long journey is ahead. Please pray:
- Families have started to return to Southeast Texas. Pray for comfort and wisdom as they make decisions about how to best move forward. Stress will be high as will the emotional toll of returning to such a devastated area.
- Buckner Children and Family Services in Southeast Texas has relocated a total of 63 people, including foster families, Buckner Assessment Center residents and staff to Camp Buckner out of a concern for their safety and comfort. Pray for God’s hand of comfort upon them.
- Volunteers have started serving through Buckner in the area. Pray that God grants them the words of encouragement to say to families and the discernment of what projects to do.
- Pray for Buckner leaders as they seek to shine hope into every situation. Let their ministry continue to change lives.
