Finding peace in God

A devotion on finding peace in the midst of busyness

Summer is a fun and sunny time; kids are out of school, family trips are coming up and you may be planning fun outings with friends and family. It can be difficult to find time to pause and find peace in the midst of a busy season. Maybe you don’t have kids, but your schedule is full with with work, friends, church and giving back to the community.

While these things are great, stop and ask yourself, "Am I spending time with God alone? Do I have that peace in my life outside of the busyness?"

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." - John 14:27

Christ reassures us of the kind of peace he gives us that cannot be found in this world. This world keeps us busy and going, one thing after another but we have to find time to seek the peace only God can give us.

In seasons of busyness, there comes stress, but I want to encourage you, brothers and sisters, that we can have peace and hope in the Lord always. Even just stopping to read a Bible verse with encouragement from our Lord is a source of everlasting peace.

“I have told you this that through me you may have peace. In the world you’ll have trouble but be courageous - I’ve overcome the world!” - John 16:33

What beautiful reassurance the Lord gives us to know we have peace through him who has overcome the world! Brothers and sisters, I pray you may find the peace you need each and every day in the One who gives us the peace that cannot be found in this world. God has overcome this world so that we may have everlasting peace with him.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff shall comfort me.” - Psalm 23:1-4

Be encouraged that you have everlasting peace and comfort in our Shepherd.
