First Baptist Church Groves helps transform foster family’s home
A woman who has spent more than 20 years of her life taking care of foster children will soon get help with needed items in her home thanks to a Mid-County church.
Monica Garrett, who lives on the Buckner campus in Beaumont, said from the time she was in her mother’s womb, God had a plan for her. At 16, she began taking in anyone who needed help, giving them clothes, food and kindness.
“It was my calling,” Garrett said. “God gave me everything I needed.”
Garrett has spent 21 years fostering children with Buckner International, a ministry that uses Christ-centered values to help transform the lives of at-risk children. Garrett has fostered more than 100 of them.
