Fishing day excites, brings back memories for San Angelo seniors
An old adage indicates a bad day fishing is better than a good day doing anything else. So how good is a good day of fishing?
That's what residents of Baptist Retirement Community in San Angelo found out during the 9th Annual Fishing Extravaganza on April 26. A beautiful day filled with fishing brought back a rush of memories for the residents. They remembered experiences with their families, fun stories and trips they took.
“I like dry fly fishing in the cold streams of Colorado and New Mexico, but I grew up with catfishing. So, I'm familiar with them. I know some of those old catfish, I think," Joe Bullock said.
The Buckner senior living community wrapped up the day enjoying a fish fry together. The event is part of BRC's effort to inspire happiness in resident's lives daily.
“Seeing the resident's light up when they catch a fish or get water all over them because the fish is flailing around. It's just a neat time to see, to see them in their element and see a glimpse of who they used to be and who they are now, so it's an enjoyable time," BRC Director of Marketing Erin Kelly said.
