Fresh fruit and water from H-E-B Grocery Company will serve 100 local families
H-E-B Grocery Company, which operates H-E-B and Central Market, had excess fresh fruit and water after a canceled event and sent up to 1,200 pounds of water bottles and 2,658 pounds of fresh fruit to the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid.
The H-E-B team jumped into action to be sure the produce was put to good use and knew local Dallas families in need would be served through Buckner International.
H-E-B also provided Cornerstone Baptist Church with produce and water to distribute to families in need.
“We rarely have produce this fresh to distribute to our families,” said Steve Watson, director of aid and assistance for Buckner Children and Family Services. “The oranges, apples and water will also be shared with Compassion Center, All Saints Dallas, Wynnewood Fellowship and a few others.”
Up to 100 families we serve will receive assistance through this generous donation.
