Friday photo: British man travels more than 5,000 miles to build home for family through Buckner
Each year, mission teams come from across the country to serve through Buckner Missions. They give their time and resources to travel great distances to serve vulnerable children and families in the Rio Grande Valley.
Edward Asher has them all beat.
The Brighton, England, resident traveled nearly 5,200 miles to build a home as part of the mission team from Shenandoah Baptist Church in Cedar Park.
Edward met a couple from the church while both parties were traveling in San Francisco earlier this year. They exchanged contact information and have kept in touch. Recently, the couple shared they were going to build a house through Buckner Missions in Peñitas, Texas, and invited Edward to come.
Soon after, Edward was on a plane.
“I just like helping people,” he said during a short break between construction projects. “That’s what it’s all about.”
Edward, you certainly have helped the families we serve this week. Thank you for your presence, energy and effort. We hope to see you again soon! Cheerio!
