The First Lady of Guatemala Patricia Morales visited Buckner International this week to tour the campuses and discuss Buckner’s methods and strategy around engaging the faith community in nine markets across Texas to learn how Guatemala can develop its foster care program.

Following her husband’s election to the Guatemalan presidency in January 2016, Morales has made strengthening her country’s foster care system a priority during her tenure as First Lady. She has previously partnered with Buckner Guatemala, where Buckner offers locally led foster and kinship care services along with other programming geared toward strengthening local families.
