How can you find rest in your schedule?

A devotion on God's rest for your soul

Spring is here and with it can come endless obligations and exciting activities. I have found myself with the busiest schedule and struggling to find any time for rest, recovery or reflection.

It's a fact of this life we will have obligations, but it's so easy for good obligations to become distractions from our loving God. When I find myself with a packed schedule, made from the best of intentions, it usually ends with a weary soul.

I need to be reminded to prioritize rest, recovery and reflection. I need to be reminded of the sweetness of Jesus, and he is the ultimate place for rest and recovery.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his namesake.” – Psalm 23:1-3

He is so sweet and faithful to draw us in and remind us to find rest and recovery in him.

It isn’t often that in the midst of busy, I make this time on my own. But each time he draws me near, I find the rest and renewal I need. I am blessed God's mercies are new each morning, and he invites us into his Kingdom. These reminders and blessings lead to an overflow of love and joy to shine into the world and point back to him.

Obligations and the best of intentions can easily point us away from the Lord, but he will restore our souls and right us on our paths.

How lucky we are to be loved by the Creator of the world.
