In times of uncertainty
What does one do in times of uncertainty? That can easily be answered by who you are at your core? Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths."
We all are living in times of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A time when everyone is truly the same, since the virus knows no boundaries, regardless of your economic status, religion, title, ethnicity, geography, etc. Which brings us back to the original question: "What do you do in times of trouble?"
For me, Proverbs 3:5-6 has always been one of my foundational Scriptures I can lean on. I encourage you to read it and reread it, think upon it and listen to what it is really saying to you specifically. I believe you will find comfort and peace in it.
Psalms 46:10 says: "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth." This is the other Scripture I find comfort in during times of uncertainty. What a great opportunity we have during this time of shelter in place – to be still in a world that has become so busy. We have an opportunity to reflect inwardly on ourselves; to examine who we are, who we are becoming and how does it align with God’s promises for ourselves.
We all need to be still, listen, see and hear from God. To see his wondrous works in the skies, to see shapes and colors of things you have never stopped to notice, to hear birds singing and dogs barking. Most importantly, to hear him speak to our spirit and to acknowledge and trust him as Lord and Savior.
During this time, I am seeking an answer to: "What is the Lord saying to me during this time of COVID-19?" At the same time, I am also focusing on not complaining and thanking God for the many blessings I do have, no matter how inconvenient. I believe there are many who are in situations far more critical than mine, and a spirit of gratitude and humbleness is essential.
We can rest assuredly that God is in control even though we may not understand what is happening right now. Because he is in control, we can have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.
"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." – John 16:33
