Marilyn Campbell, wife for former Buckner president, dies
Marilyn Campbell, wife of the late R.C. Campbell, former president of Buckner International, died Oct. 21 at the age of 86.
Mrs. Campbell was married to R.C. Campbell, who served as president of what was then Buckner Baptist Benevolences for 32 years. In 1989, Buckner named the administration building of the Buckner Villas retirement community in Austin in her honor.
Buckner International President and CEO Albert Reyes called Marilyn Campbell “an integral piece of Buckner’s history and mission. She and her husband’s legacy continue.
“In many ways, Marilyn Campbell represents the best of Buckner,” he said. “Her grace and compassion inspired all of us to care for the downtrodden as Christ does. Her passing will be felt throughout the Buckner family.”
Marilyn and R.C. Campbell were married 57 years. She was preceded in death by her husband and five siblings. She is survived by her two daughters, Gayla Crain and Robbie Lehman; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
The funeral service were Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Celina.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dr. R. C. and Marilyn Campbell Scholarship Fund at Dallas Baptist University, the Dr. R. C. and Marilyn Campbell Scholarship Fund at Howard Payne University and to The Marilyn M. Campbell Memorial Fund for Buckner.
