About 35,000 Texas children are in the state foster care system in need of caring homes. And more foster parents are needed in the Midland-Odessa area.

If you aren't ready to become a foster parent, Buckner has plenty of opportunities for you to help support foster families in Midland-Odessa and is currently seeking donations for car activity kits to help entertain children during the drive to summer camp next month. Items needed for the activity kits include: crayons, coloring books, Kleenex, card games, packaged snacks and antibacterial wipes.
 
Local volunteers are also needed to help look after children during the annual Buckner Foster Care and Adoption Summer Pool Party on June 24 from 7-9 p.m.
