Reflecting on direction from God
Do you ever wish God would give you signs like lightning bolts or directional arrows as clear evidence you are making the right decisions? I find myself asking God all the time for those signs and praying to receive them so clearly. Never did I think they would be so clear through reflection.
Before the pandemic hit, my family lived in an area of our community that did not have high speed internet (shock and awe - I know). We lived in my dream home my dad had built for us, and I was staying in it forever.
Job changes, company changes, and uncertainty led us to sell this forever dream home and move “into town.” At the time, I was angry, frustrated and irritated. There was a lot going on in our lives and I found myself continually asking God why.
Looking back, the why is so clear ... he was protecting us like he always does. Nine months after moving into our house, the pandemic hit. I was working remotely, my college son was sent home to do online classes, and my high school student was also doing online classes.
I cannot imagine how we would have been able to function trying to hotspot off our cell phones for all these tasks. Also, the house we sold was only three bedrooms while our current house is four, giving the college student his own space. The process and the timing were hard when we sold our forever home and moved, but God knew a pandemic was coming, and he helped us prepare.
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” – Mark 11:24
There are not always lightning bolts or directional signs, but sometimes there is reflection on things that have happened in your life where you can see that God was wholly in the center of it.
Are you taking the time to reflect on the gifts and signs God has given you?
