Single mom adopts brother through kinship care
Brooklyn Cole is a Buckner Family Pathways™ resident. She’s been working on her education and financial goals.
But when her younger brother needed help, she stepped up to provide for him and protect him. She gave him the stability of a godly home.
“She has had to learn how to be a mother … she’s learned to be the head of the household. She’s learned to be a good student. She’s learned to be a good role model for the community. And she’s had to do this at a young age,” said Sindy Muro, director of the Family Pathways in Midland.
Some people thought Brooklyn was too young to take on the challenge of taking care of her brother, but Brooklyn felt God guiding her on this path.
“God allowed it,” Brooklyn said. “He restored a lot of time, and he’s been there to work with us through this whole thing.”
