Texas foster children will receive new clothing from Beaumont Foundation donation
The Beaumont Foundation of America gifted $54,150 to Buckner Children and Family Services, half of its pledged $108,300 donation for the year. The donation will be used to purchase new clothing for Texas children in foster care served by Buckner.
Donation meets growing need to provide basic necessities for foster youth
With nearly 30,000 children in foster care in Texas, there is a growing need for these children to be provided with basic necessities such as clothing.
“The Beaumont Foundation’s annual donation is a hopeful start to the new year,” said Samela Macon, Buckner vice president of domestic operations and support services. “Providing new clothes to these children and witnessing the joy it brings them is priceless. We are very thankful for the Beaumont Foundation’s support over the past 13 years.”
Since 2007, the Beaumont Foundation has contributed more than $1.6 million towards helping Buckner provide clothing for children living in foster care in Beaumont and throughout Texas.
Ministry continues during the pandemic
During the current global pandemic, Buckner continues to serve vulnerable children and families in various ways. The implementation of virtual adoptions, virtual classes, virtual certifications to be foster parents and more create flexible options for families to permanently grow and open their homes to vulnerable children in the foster care system.
Buckner offers foster care and adoption services in Southeast Texas, North Texas, Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, Longview, Lufkin and the Rio Grande Valley. The Beaumont Foundation's annual donation is distributed to families with foster children in these areas several times a year to help them purchase new clothing. The gift also provides new clothes for children who have first entered the foster care system with few belongings to their name.
