Ventana's first centenarian

Member at Ventana by Buckner celebrates 100th birthday

Last week, Virginia Justine McEwen, a member at Ventana by Buckner, a Buckner senior living community in Dallas, celebrated her 100th birthday.

Virginia's milestone marks the first time Ventana by Buckner, which opened in late 2019, had a resident turn 100 years old. She resides in The Glen, the skilled nursing care area within Ventana.

Virginia was born on Oct. 30, 1921 in South Bridge, Massachusetts, but has lived in Dallas since 1978. She was an administrative secretary at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Some highlights from the year she was born: The first radio baseball game was broadcast, Warren G. Harding was president, Albert Einstein won the Nobel Prize, and Wonder Bread began distribution.

Happy birthday, Virginia!
