Waiting seasons
Waiting is hard. We don’t want to wait in the grocery store line, at a red light or for a gas pump to open up. But when we are in a spiritual season of waiting, it can be a trying time of unanswered prayers. Here are a few things to take comfort in while you are waiting on the Lord:
-
His word brings us hope. “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits and in his word I put my hope.” - Psalm 130:5
The Bible is full of so many stories of people who waited patiently on the Lord. King David waited for his time to be king. Ruth waited faithfully for Boaz. Joseph waited on God while he was unjustly in prison. These are just a few examples of people who couldn’t see the full picture at the time, but God was still working in their lives. -
You are not forgotten. “Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you.”- Luke 12:27-28
If you take a walk outside this time of year, you can see the beautiful wildflowers, the lush green grass, and trees blooming. It's a sweet reminder that if God cares about the flowers, grass and trees, how much more does he care about his own children! You are not forgotten in this season. God sees, cares and loves you. -
Don’t wait alone. Isaiah 40:31 “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:31
Maybe you have been in a season of waiting for so long you are starting to lose hope. Now is the time to surround yourself with other believers who can encourage you and pray for you during this time. God’s promises are true and he will renew our strength when we call on him.
I pray you experience God’s nearness to you while you wait, that his word brings you hope knowing you aren't forgotten and are deeply loved.
