What if you could help a child in need get to school?
#RUNforSHOES starts this Friday, and we need your help to reach our goal of providing the black shoes children in two elementary schools in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, are required to wear to school.
These shoes can be expensive for families struggling to make ends meet, especially in the impoverished communities of Eduardo Brito and Villa Esfuerzo, where our Buckner Family Hope Centers are located.
Ten-year-old Erickson lives in Eduardo Brito with his parents, two sisters and four brothers. He attends La Escuela Pública de Eduardo Brito, where he is eager to learn.
“I want to be a systems engineer when I grow up,” Erickson says. “I’m good at using the computer, and I always like to learn more about them.”
Because of your participation in #RUNforSHOES, Erickson – and children just like him – will have the shoes he needs to continue his education.
Simply register online and we’ll send you a t-shirt, runner’s bib and a photo of a child you can choose to run for. Then gather your friends and family and go for a run or walk around the block to raise awareness for the children we serve. Make sure to post photos using #RUNforSHOES!
