Humans cannot shake off doubt. No matter what life stage I find myself in, it is only a matter of time until I find myself doubting things, people, myself and sometimes even God. It is undoubtable!
You rarely ever hear a Christian say, “I just don’t know if I can fully trust the Lord,” but at some point in your life, it is highly likely you somehow doubted God’s presence, power or provision. This tendency goes back so far that we read in the Old Testament how the people of Israel doubted God countless times, including some of history’s greatest leaders like Moses.
Just when God promised Moses a one-month portion of food for him and the people of Israel in the wilderness, Moses’ immediate response was doubt. Thankfully, the God whom Moses served back then and whom we serve today is more than able to exceed our expectations.
His response was this: “Is the Lord’s power too little? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not” (Numbers 11:23).
God promised his people – and repeatedly reminded them – he would lead them into the land that was prepared for them. He knew what their future was going to look like because he was already there, and all they had to do was take him at his word. Simply trust in him.
As our world has changed drastically over the past few years – illness, political unrest and financial hardship – I pray we choose to rest in God’s grace and trust he is wise and powerful to overcome.
“‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
