On July 22, Buckner programs in Houston collaborated with the Halliburton Charitable Foundation and the Astros Foundation to distribute school supplies. Families from the Buckner Family Hope Center™ programs at Aldine and Reed Road were able to receive backpacks and needed supplies to start the school year off on the right foot.
“We value our relationship with Halliburton and are so grateful for their commitment to the work we do and the families we serve,” shared Dior Burns Eagan, director of administration and operations in Houston. “Together we are not only able to help the families we currently serve but reach out to new families that don’t know who we are yet.”
Halliburton covered the cost of the supplies to fill 1,000 backpacks for the Buckner locations as well as packing them for the families.
Backpacks were provided for both elementary and junior high school students. Elementary students received construction paper, scissors, crayons, markers and pencils, notebooks and more. Junior high students received backpacks with binders, multi-purpose paper, pencils, pens, a protractor and more.
