The Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine proudly graduated 15 students from Jobs for Life on March 5. Jobs for Life is an 8-week faith-based course which helps prepare men and women for meaningful work through honest relationships, mentoring, work-force development training and an ongoing community of support. The course helps students have more confidence and learn how to overcome their obstacles.
Students participated in group activities to help build relationships with one another and learn about their community, and each student participated in mock interviews, consisting of dressing professionally, submitting their completed resume and receiving interview feedback.
For many of the graduates, the commencement ceremony was their first opportunity to wear a cap and gown and receive an educational certificate of accomplishment.
Among the graduates were Concepcion and Cirila Ortiz, who will celebrate 55 years of marriage this year. Prior to attending the Jobs for Life training, Concepcion had only completed third grade and Cirila had only completed first grade. The Ortizes are a true testimony of the fact that, “with God all things are possible!”
Congratulations to all the graduates!
